Q: What do you do with your radio and TV appearances (if you are able
to get a copy of the appearance)?
A: Whenever you are on radio or TV, make sure that you and at least 3 friends are recording it at home.
This, as back-up just in case the station goofs up, and you cannot get
a copy of their recording.
Stuff happens!
Why should you care?
•Because successful appearances on small radio and TV stations
shows producers
of national radio and TV networks
that you know how to do the job.
Important fact:
Most
local headliners give terrible media interviews.
So, if you are at all ambitious,
•get good at media interviews starting . . . now.
Next, you or someone else must edit it down with audio or video editing
software:
Cut out verbal stumbles, any mistakes, etc.
This 9-3-2013 Associated Press photo printed in the Wall Street Journal
catches
Secretary of State John
Kerry verbally stumbling
over a boots-on-ground question.
This was while
testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing
to advance President
Barack Obama’s request for congressional authorization
for military intervention
in Syria.
The request was not advanced.
Since whatever you say on radio or TV
is unlikely to be picked up by media political
analysts,
do yourself a favor:
Keep only the good sound bites.
Remember how you surf the web:
People like you are in a hurry,
and only want to watch 30-90 seconds of your video.
Good.
Less is more!
Next, put these great sound bites on your professionally designed web site:
Why?
If the show is popular, your appearance alone is an implied endorsement.
Comedy bookers and corporate Meeting Planners will be equally impressed.
•Many full time comedy clubs will not headline you unless you have already
appeared
on at least one of the TV shows hosted
by the comics
that appear in the photo at the top of this page.
Gee, isn't that interesting?
But if you want to really talk interesting, remember:
Corporate gigs pay "funny money;"
•which means you can get ten (10) times your comedy club Headliner pay for
a week
•in just one
performance!
Did that cold fact just get your attention?
OK: then, be sure to click the next two links.

•That would be more-$, wouldn't it?
;-)
But then, what do I know?
