This is the third amateur Comedy Marathon Contest (CMC) in the 2016-2017 series.
As always, the best act wins a $150 cash prize.

The first CMC in the 2016-2017 series was held at the Sonoma Speakeasy in the city of Sonoma on August 17, also for a $150 cash prize.
Both these 2016/2017 CMCs were in the second of three series.
Three CMCs per series x 3 series = 9 CMCs/"year")
Run-Offs (R-O) between three CMC winners for $300 prize;
Then, three Run-Off Winners compete in
Comic of the Year Contest (COY) for $1,000

Total COY winner collects: $150 + $300 + $1,000 = $1,450
Total prize pool:
9 CMCs x $150 = $1,350 + 3 R-Os x $300 = $900 + COY $1,000 = $3,250
